They needed that money shot. Should give them a bit more staying power and a chance to take up a good position on tha table. With a bit of luck and some self control they won't blow it all prematurely.

Not strictly on theme with this thread but was following the Irish connections in Pro D2 Semi-final games over the weekend.

The biggest link is that with Brive, coached by Jeremy Davidson and with Stuart Olding playing at 12 and former Ulster player, Rory Scholes at full-back. Brive qualified well in their S/F against Breton newcomers Vannes, who surprised mych fancied Mont de Marson in the q/f. Brive had a full house for a televised game yesterday and noisy support. Olding looked a class act and set up two tries in the second-half to see them home. Dan Tuohy played for Vannws and was 'starred' in Midi Olympique this morning for his peeformance.

The other finalist, Basques Aviron Bayonnaise, won their semi the hard way by coming from behind at Oyannex to win 34-38. Former French Forwards Coach Yannick Bru is the Bayonne head coach and the rugby headlines today have christened him "French Rugby's Jurgen Klopp".

And the Basques are back! Pro D2 champions for 2019 are Bayonne who win 19-21 with 7 penalties away to Brive. Brive had enough opportinities to win this but were ill-disciplined in defence and Bustos Moyanes took advantage with the placed ball.

Brive will have another chance against Grenoble but the good news for the South-West is that everyone gets to visit BaB next Season.
