Leicester swoop for hooker Hickie

Post by conman »

Leicester have signed Irish hooker Gavin Hickie from Worcester on a two-year contract.
Hickie, 25, represented Ireland A in 2002 and hopes a move to Welford Road this summer will re-ignite his international ambitions.

"The chance to be part of the set-up at Leicester was too good to turn down but I'm very sad to be leaving Worcester.

"I didn't know anyone at first but I've since fallen in love with the place," said the former Leinster player.

"That made it a tough decision to make, but you can't refuse when Leicester come calling.

"Playing for Leicester will present a lot more opportunities in big games next season," he added.

Nice to see Gavin getting a break after disappearing into obscurity under Kidney.

I know this isn't a widely held position, but I think that he's a good player.

I know I'm old but I'm beginning to get confused here - are we Leinster or are the team that play are Welford Road?

Are you sure you've got this the correct way round?
