Jonny O'Connor will definitely miss the weekend trip to Saracens and London Wasps' physiotherapist Roger Athy-Knibbs has revealed the full extent of the Irishman's neck injury.

The openside flanker sustained the problem in the opening minute of last Sunday's Powergen Cup victory over Llanelli at Twickenham and was subsequently stretchered off the pitch ' much to the dismay of everyone at the club.

However, initial fears concerning the severity of the injury have now been greatly reduced, but Athy-Knibbs has revealed that the Galwayman will seek specialist advice from a consultant next Wednesday concerning his injury.

Athy-Knibbs said: 'The problem was that where he took the contact he basically traumatised the neural system and got what we call a spinal concussion.

'So the nervous system and the nerve roots around the spine have been traumatised and they have some bruising and swelling around them. That is what is causing his problems at the moment.

'He is on the road to recovery, but he is going to see a consultant next week to examine and assess the full extent of the injuries. Things are improving at the moment.'
I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.
