The Jason White Appreciation Society Thread

Post by Tara »

Last February after Scotland beat France in their opening Six Nations game H-Bomb and I co-founded the Jason White Appreciation Society (or JAWS for short). We had initially hoped that the society would have cross gender appeal, Jason having struck us as a man's man. However our male friends could not really understand his appeal. Unfortunately our female friends were equally bemused by our attraction to his broken nose and cauliflower ears and so the society's membership never really grew beyond two. Having noted the number of female posters that SS' poll unearthed, we are hoping to find a more sympathetic audience here.

Thus far JAWS' activities have not really extended beyond emailing URLs for cute pictures of him to each other and watching the occasional GP match and enduring Stuart Barnes' fawning over the Second Coming (aka Charlie Hodgson) in the hope that JW would win man of the match and be interviewed afterwards. And then of course there was the highlight of the JAWS social calenday when H got to go clubbing with the man himself after the Scotland/Ireland game and like totally forgot to call me/lost my number. Next year JAWS' activities will include a pilgrimage to Murrayfield to coincide with next year's Sccotland/Ireland game (I'm afraid unless Leinster are drawn with Sale next year, not even JW could entice us back to Stockport).

So, any takers?

And limecat, before you go moving this to the International/Other Teams threads, I'd like to point out that our appreciation for Jason White has very little to do with his prowess as a rugby player and so eventually you'd have to move it back here anyway.

I'm not sure whether or not to move this to the "other sports" section ;)

I think you've got remarkably good taste (I noticed the reference to Simon Taylor on another thread! I just hope he won't be at the game next week - only 'cos I can't go, and I'll be gutted if he is!). And to be fair, boys are generally rubbish, and know nothing. You have to remember that.

I'm not sure I can really. I fear it's something you either get or don't get. But do you like Mundy? If so, don't you think that JW looks a little like Mundy would look if he worked out and someone broke his nose?

Too young....bless!

But back to Simon Taylor (maybe I should start a new thread - but what the hell if it takes off I'll split this one!) did anyone see him on Weakest Link a couple of years ago. He won! Brains as well as brawn!

I was just about to post that! He has a law degree you know. Second on my list to recruit (after Shaggy). Think I could persuade Leinster to give him a contract while he trains?

I laughed out loud at that pic of Os Du Randt

My all-time greats:

1. John Eales in his prime - a reason for any gal to watch S12 as it was then
2. Simon Geoghegan in his prime - kinda pretty, but still passable.
3. Conor O'Shea - all round Mr Clean & Nice (and bland... :? )

More recent heroes:

1. JW - I saw the pics of Jonny with his blue shirt off during the RWC 03.....forgive me
2. Denis - hobo chic meets muscle tone and suave Muso laid-back style
3. David Wallace - beautiful(until you hear the accent...)
4. Felipe - I know it's wrong cos he's got a new baby but he's just a god.
5. Super Rob - sheer perfection

Who am I missing, girls?
