Something that the OLSC has recently received that may interest some Leinsterfans.

We are writing to you to let you know about one of the biggest golfing days in Ireland this year. We were all very upset to hear earlier this year that the great indestructible Kerry man, Moss Keane, had been hit with cancer but of course in his inimitable style he is fighting and remains immensely cheerful and in great form.

It has however created a situation initiated by Killester Travel whereby we are holding a golf day to celebrate Moss’s career and also to raise some much needed money for the IRFU Charitable Trust and Stuart Mangan Appeal – both charities looking after seriously injured players. We know it is a tough year and because of that we have tailored the competition in a particular way.

Essentially, the event will be Munster v Leinster and we will have one celebrity playing for Munster with his partner and another playing for Leinster with his partner, so that essentially the tournament will be a four ball rather than a team event. We are delighted to announce that Paul OConnell will captain the Munster team and Brian ODriscoll will captain the Leinster team.

The cost of the day will be €500 (am shotgun) or €600 (pm shotgun) per person to include a round of golf on the Palmer course at the K Club and dinner with a star studded cabaret that night. It is fair to say that the response to our invitations to celebrities to take part or alternatively supporters to contribute has been 100% so far and the list really is a who’s who of Irish sport and entertainment.
