Yep, that thing exactly. God forbid they had to hold your hand.

Not sure why you're surprised.
However the answer to your question seems fairly obvious.
Bunker mentality politics.

I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role.
I've got nothing against your right leg.
The trouble is ... neither have you

Logged into sonos through my phone to throw on a podcast, it requests I update app/software so do so, then take out iPad (playlists, main source of music) to find post upgrade the iPad now can't use the sonos app unless I update its software, unfortunately iPad purchased in 2012 and apple don't seem to want to let me update anymore. There's nothing wrong with the iPad except now because of poxy software updates it's being slowly rendered useless. Actually maddening.

It is maddening that in the age of hardware lasting longer manufacturers make your equipment obsolete via software. Things like manufacturers bricking your telly are a compelling argument against connected/Internet of sh!t devices.

yep - had a samsung smart tv brick itself just after warranty expiry. At least when my amazon firestick bricked last week (oddly enough just after warranty expiry) the replacement was a lot cheaper (and a bit of moaning at least got me an additional discount).

You both beat me responding to Johng - I was thinking of Samsung bricking their stuff... Along with all the IoT services that close their servers on sale to a larger competitor or just brick their old stuff as they move to a new model.

Yep. It seems there's been one firefighter injured but hopefully there's been no others.

Very sad to see 850 years of history on fire. Especially with the irony that it's so close to being surrounded by water.
To think the events it's witnessed and now it's ashes.

The nave of Notre Dame and its reverberation were really important for the development of Western polyphonic music with its Masters Leonin and Perotin. It's quite alien to us now.

I was at a bit of a tangent on this one. I was thinking about windows and macs rather than the firmware or whatever that makes other types of hardware obsolete. Which was what the original point was. Sorry about that. Just noticing now

Ps. Well done on getting 54 months out of a phone.

I'd say that breaks my record. I had Samsung's and HTC up to the galaxy s4. After that I went LG because they were the only ones with a removable battery fm radio and.... sh1t I forget what the 3rd thing was.

The build quality was just too bad though. After having g3 g4 and g5 I went back to Samsung. Happy with my s9 (first time I have ever bought a phone on launch) crunched the numbers at the time and decided that getting it on a 2 year deal from Vodafone was actually cheaper than my previous strategy of buying the phone and getting a sim only deal

Just picked up the s10 upgrade from 7, upgrade required due to the 80min battery life. Put the old phone in a press in the utility (not the driest environment) and about 7 days later the battery had swelled to force the casing open.
I am liking the 10, mostly though because I'm not planning my day around battery packs (does anyone know of a good one- all mine cave very quickly) and 230v socket outlets.
