This thread's quite "iron" isn't it?
Edit sorry that was "black iron" not "blue steel"...

Re: Dummies guide to weight training
I think there is a cryptic references thread somewhere on the forum. Grumpy and 433 keep posting on this one instead of it.
Although I often read 433s posts and think....... I know what all those words mean....individually.

Still a couple of years away! Must revise my current programme as I am actually have to lose some extra "bulk" for the big day. Looking at dropping 2 and half stones, 35lb or 16kg whichever comes first

Is this the "bulk" you "gained" in between the hard hours in the gym?RoboProp wrote: Still a couple of years away! Must revise my current programme as I am actually have to lose some extra "bulk" for the big day. Looking at dropping 2 and half stones, 35lb or 16kg whichever comes first

If I drop 2.5 stone I'll be down to 17. I'm lean at 17, you know its true cuz it rhymes! Its all about the photos and getting a morning suit for hire that won't make me look like Oddjob!tate wrote:You'll be booted out of the Frontrow Union with talk like that RP!!
As an aside I told Donny B only last week he was now too small for the Front Row Union. Good work sir, well done.

All well and good, but judging on the posts I think people forget he's beginner.tate wrote:Starting strength is a damn good start.
If your "routine" doesn't include deadlift, squat, press of the bench and shoulder varieties, cleans and snatch it aint worth sh!t, imo. See http://stronglifts.com/ and the links in my signature for more details.

Re: Dummies guide to weight training
I recently added the front squat with push press to my work-out, definitely not for the neophyte as the front squat can be tricky technique wise. Its a great compound exercise that works a lot of muscle groups, it will leave you feeling gassed quite quickly. Here's a demo I found of the exercise, quality is not great. Some people break it up, but I like to do the squat followed by the push press.

Re: Dummies guide to weight training
great exercise, i call them "thrusters" cos that's what crossfit call them and they taught me about them. Really excellent for lineout lifters!RoboProp wrote:I recently added the front squat with push press to my work-out, definitely not for the neophyte as the front squat can be tricky technique wise. Anyone who hasnt used kettlebells yet get on it!! Kettlebell swings will leave you seriously gassed after a relatively small number. Fantastic for developing hip drive too.
