Re: Digital TV - Terrestrial
Just did a google and what I found was that in December RTÉ stopped broadcasting digital RTÉ2 in SD and switched it to HD. (Or HD - lite meaning if HD was available it was used but otherwise it was standard SD.)
There is only one Digital RTÉ2 channel broadcast and it's HD.

Can't record in HD on my tv anyway, and will be in Limerick. Will have to make do with the old SD coverage on Sky.Broken Wing wrote:Dont believe so.

Re: Digital TV - Terrestrial
Finally got around to putting up the aerial and connecting to my box of tricks. (It was a long season after all)Broken Wing wrote:If you select the Digital source and set it to self tune what does it pick up?Oldschool wrote:I have a sony DVD recorder (with HD) which has both an analogue and digital tuner.
I have a HDD/DVD recorded which has a digital tuner. (I also have a digital aerial but that may or may not matter.) Picking the DVB as the source on the recorder I can tune in the Irish TV stations. Alas it's a Freeview recorder so I can only pick up the sound and not the picture (Mpeg2 instead of Mpeg4 format).
I'm only getting sound, following your advice re self tuning (Ta BTW).
The manual is only 120 pages long, so I'm now in the process of trying to find out exactly what kind of digital receiver I have and if I need some sort of video
cable as well. The spec (so far ) is not very clear on it's MPEG Type and their is just about every kind of connection on my TV as well as my DVD/HDD.
(For all I know there is a digital receiver in the TV.
Anyway - Aerial up and connected, my interest has been re-awakened, I will re-read the Thread.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

RTE1 is now available in HD on Saorview. You'll need to do a rescan as its on a different Multiplex than previously, but once you rescan all will be good.
