I'm an awkward sod when it comes to restaurants, cos there's lots I don't eat. Most places, though, I'll find at least one thing I'll eat. Not there, though.future international wrote:Thought the last menu was fantastic tbh, the Lobester burger which they ran for a good while was top notch, as was the simple fish and chips. Really don't think it was over complicated compared to a lot of restaurants no days.TheBear wrote:If they're banning the word 'foodie', is the new menu going to be less foodie than the last one? There was not a single thing on that menu that I would have eaten without asking for something to be left out.

I have a friend like this and I had to stop going to restaurants with her and tell her to just eat at home. She's 30 years of age and still thinks goat's cheese is "fancy".TheBear wrote:I'm an awkward sod when it comes to restaurants, cos there's lots I don't eat. I don't think goat's cheese is fancy; I just won't eat it, or any other dairy products.honeyec wrote:I have a friend like this and I had to stop going to restaurants with her and tell her to just eat at home. In my defence, I have worked in restaurants, so I know what a pain customers like me can be, so I do try to minimise the hassle for staff and for those I'm out with.

Pig's cheese. Swear I saw it once in a scary Spanish market. Do like the sheep's manchego though.

Great chipper that thinks it's a restaurant. Doesn't stay open after midnight on weekends and closes in the mid-evening on weekdays. I hate to break it to you lads, but that Michelin star isn't coming any time soon. You might as well cater to the correct market.blockhead wrote:Jaysus I tell ya. What do I care. It's open on match day, that's the only time I'm in the vicinity. Do Roleys have one of those star things?tackle-bag wrote:Great chipper that thinks it's a restaurant. ANyone know what's going with Maia down opposite the PO in Ballsbridge, used to enjoy nipping in there for brunch the odd weekend (very bourgoise I know) but anytime I try and head there lately they seem to be shut.

Re: Restaurant/Take Away Review Thread
Was in Keshk on Mespil rd at the weekend. Middle Eastern/ Egyptian food with a BYOB policy.
we were with a large group and were seated downstairs with three other groups celebrating one thing or another. Basically we could be loud and noisy without annoying others.
I wouldnt be hugely experienced with this type of food, but for me, the food was excellent, well explained by decent staff and very tasty. They made a birthday cake big enough for 14 of us. There was no attempts to push expensive bottled water on us and fresh jugs of iced water were topped up all night. The BYOB policy meant that a 3 course meal with coffee came out at under €35 per head. Would have no hesitation about returning or recommending.
