Re: The comic thread
Anyone got a suggestion for compilations or series to get on the Kindle?
Realistically limiting myself to comics that would originally been done in monochrome (have downloaded Vol. 1 of Judge Dredd's case files), but looking for other options that aren't going to be impacted by reading them on the relatively small screen without colour.

Sin City, yes there are flashes of colour but mostly black & white and a great series of graphic novelsHacker G wrote:Anyone got a suggestion for compilations or series to get on the Kindle?

It's available on the kindle, so I might give that a go. Thanks!

Have heard good things about "Saga". About to start it. Any opinions?

I bought it because of the writer and enjoyed it. But never bought another one after the first.Captain Average wrote:Have heard good things about "Saga". About to start it. Any opinions?
Best comic I've read recently is Polina by Bastien Vives.

Its silly season so this deserves a bump. Anyone go to SD Comic Con this year? anyone going to the Dublin Comic Con weekend after next? Was it any use last year?

Re: The comic thread
Frank Miller to pen 3rd and final part of the dark knight series..... wohoo.... I think?
What's he going to do though, have Batman carry out a series of investigations in his nursing home?
The title is "The Master Race" and the cover heaps more pain on poor supes!

Wonder which characters they'll delve into (Judges aside)?

I'll be disapointed if Rogue Trooper and Strontium Dog aren't included.Peg Leg wrote:Thank you very much!Dave Cahill wrote:Thank you Ian!IanD wrote:Tonight on Film 4 at 11:25

Re: The comic thread
Strontium Dog wasn't originally a 2000AD character though
edit: If that Finn is the eco-warrior from 3WW then neither is he!

Finn was in crisis and got his own strip in 2000ad. [According to wiki]Dave Cahill wrote:Strontium Dog wasn't originally a 2000AD character though

Wasn't crisis a 2000ad product?

Re: The comic thread
It was sort of, it was an attempt by Fleetway to move into the mature comics market that was proving successful for a lot of indie publishers - who were running stuff by a lot of people who also worked for Fleetway but unlike 2000AD et al, the indies offered creator-owned deals to writers and artists. Crisis was set up to allow the guys who worked for Fleetway and had great characters and stories squirrelled away because they'd lose ownership if they brought them to Fleetway retain ownership of them and stay under the Fleetway shingle. Garth Ennis' first published comic book work was in Crisis, Troubled Souls, For a few Troubles more and True Faith.Peg Leg wrote:Finn was in crisis and got his own strip in 2000ad.
