Munster. I hate the word, as I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee.

Listening to the Villagers - Becoming a Jackal now for a while. Loving it. Kinda like Elbow with a bit of oompf.
Also made a playlist of the Iron Maiden set list from the RDS last summer in preparation for the gig in Belfast in August. Super Excited!

The Harry Potter soundtrack collection, yes a bit samey but all in all some quality tuneage to have on in the background while getting stuck into a good book. The same can be said for all four Pirates soundtracks. If you like Williams and Zimmer you can't go wrong with either collection really.
Santogold by Santogold, a little dated now and some would say she's a poorman's MIA but it's worth a listen.

Enjoyed quite a few repeated listens to Styx: Greatest Hits over the weekend. Class, class band. I'd put them up there with Rush and Deep Purple for quality.

The new Arctic Monkeys album "Suck it and See" is very good, different sound to their earlier stuff but a few listens and its really grown on me.

QOTSA producer apparently changed the direction...... however I would rather chew on my own scrotum.dave13 wrote:The new Arctic Monkeys album "Suck it and See" is very good, different sound to their earlier stuff but a few listens and its really grown on me.

They're playing the album live in the Academy on September 17th.Grumpy Old Man wrote:Heartworm - Whipping Boy. A 1995 album that I only recently discovered (thanks son!). Stunningly good.
I'm very tempted to head along. Loved the album but it was nicked on me at a house party fadó fadó. Have seen neither hide nor hair of Whipping Boy since.

They played dublin at the start of this tour last Aug and that was an amazing gig (except for the severe asthma attack I had). Belfast was fun too and I liked that they changed up the set list a bit. Good venue.Broken Wing wrote:Great gig. Currently listening to Rival Schools - Petals. Loved this bad, back in the day and was delighted if a little trepadacious when they announced a reform and new album but man they are still great. Loving it.

Re: The Good Album Thread
Anyone know why Kasabian are not playing a gig in Dublin this year, they seem to be doing a fairly large tour of Britain and throwing in a gig up north at the Odessey but they have nothing listed for the Point to promote their new album.
Have to say it's a shame because their gig in November '09 was one of the best I've been to in recent years.

Yep got "informed" this morning, odd one that they left late to announce the Point gig. Anyways roll on pre-sale and hopefully a good album.juanca wrote:Playing Nov 26th @ the O2
Oh and currently enjoying:
Foster The People - Torches (Pumped Up Kicks is a great single) it's a bit indie kid but enjoyable background stuff
Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm With You it's ok nothing special and doesn't quite have the hooks and singles of their previous three albums. Perhaps needs a few more listens to get into but mostly it makes me just want to go back and listen to Stadium Arcadium, By The Way, Californication and Blood Sugar Sex Magic.

Re: The Good Album Thread
Anyone had a listen to the new Kasabian album, seems to be getting good reviews but it's a bit of a departure from the style of the first three albums and there's no real stand out hooks like Fire or Shoot the Runner to get you into feeling repeated listens. Maybe it'll grow on me but so far it's a bit meh if you're a fan of their work to date.
