Positive messages for Charity

Post by Donny B. »

Okay, I've been challenged to post a positive message every day for 14 days on here and on Facebook and my good buddy and regular arguing contestant Flash Gordon has said he'll give 50 euro to charity.

Okay, here goes......

Pints of Guinness in the Halfway House in Walkinstown are the best in the world!!!

"The Best in the world? Surely not" I hear you say,

But no, they are the best, better than anything you'll get in town or any poncy craft-beer place.

And what's even better, they are 3.60 a pint before 6PM.

Perfect Guinness for next to nothing, pint-lovers what are you waiting for?

So you're denigrating Guinness in other bars then? Ok, fair enough I'll give you that for day 1. What's your nominated charity of choice? Might I suggest a fund to pay for a coach for Ulster?
Flash ahhhh ahhh, he'll save every one of us

Yes, I'm denigrating the quality of Guinness in other bars, I've been spoilt by the Halfway!

I accept your challenge and in 14 days, you'll know my choice of charity

Yo Donny! Any views on Liverpool's outstanding draw at home against the mighty Hull?
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

To 'Log up his hole' and 'd!%khead' (may have got the names wrong there, apologies boys) I point you to the by-laws of the challenge

The contestant can be positive about what he chooses to be positive about!!!

Anyone have a problem with that? If so, we can discuss it OUTSIDE!!!

As a partaker of pints in this very establishment I would concur with you 1000%. Best pints around by a country mile!

Positive Donny for Charity, day 2

Okay, I've been challenged to post a positive message every day for 14 days on here and on leinsterfans.com and my good buddy and regular arguing contestant Flash Gordon has said he'll give 50 euro to BOTH Pieta House and The Irish Cancer Society if I do it, cause he's always saying I'm such a moany hole on Facebook and yeah, he might be onto something there.

Okay, day two belongs is devoted to two guests of mine for a week Dusty and Bonnie. Dusty is a four-year-old golden retriever. Born blind in one eye, she was very quiet at first but had a lovely sweet nature. She's come out of her shell though in recent years and revealed herself to be a very smart dog, with a bit of a rebellious streak. She was understandably a little threatened at first by the arrival of a new puppy into her house in the form of Bonnie, a Beagle who's only a few months old. However, now they're getting on fine together as you'll see in the video. Bonnie is a typical puppy full of life and mischief but it's impossible to stay mad at her for long as she's very sweet and affectionate.

Here's the vid:

Positive Donny for Charity, day 3

Day 3 is devoted to roast spuds on Bank Holiday Monday

I like turkey and Ham and roast beef well enough, but when my Mam made a bank holiday Monday dinner it was always her roasties I loved the most. She never liked cooking them, she never liked cooking in general even though she was very good. But we always loved her roasties and we didn't care what she cooked as long as she made them.
Just before last Christmas, my Mam was diagnosed with cancer. It was very fast-acting and she passed away in January. However we got her home for her final Christmas and she taught me, step by step, how made her famous roasties.

So today I cooked up a batch of them for me and my Dad. They're not a patch on her's but they pretty good.

So thanks Mam, your roasties live on

Ah Jim, what a sad but lovely story. Do me a favour, keep on making those roasties because not only is it what your Mam would want but I promise you that the more you make them the better you'll become and each time they'll be a little bit more like the ones she made - I'd be prepared to bet her first roasties she made for your Dad when they were newly married weren't nearly as good as the last ones she'd have made for you.

Nice story and sorry to hear about your Mam.

Looking at that plate I have to ask, are you sure you're not a culchy?
