Despite checking the "log me in automatically on each visit" box, I am being asked to login each time I leave the site and return.

Is this a cunning move to make people stay and improve the web stats?

That's not happening me, although I think Eve said that the same was happening for her. I'll look into it further when we change back to forum.leinsterfans.com tomorrow or Tuesday if it's still happening then.

Try deleting your cookies (all of the lf.com ones)?

Sure enough it doesn't. The problem is that the sessions are being maintained by URL rewriting, not cookies (no Set-Cookie being sent on successful login, for e.g.). Is that an option somewhere LC?

I'm 99.99% sure that it's an "Hi, I'm Internet explorer and I'm stupid" issue.

I went to http://forum.leinsterfans.com/, which is currently redirecting to http://forum.leinsterfans.net/. Only problem is that IE is not properly completing this redirect (in that the address bar stays as .com). As a result of the difference in domains (you were logged into the .net domain), the previous login is not valid and you have to log in again.

So temporary solution:
use http://forum.leinsterfans.net/

Permanent solution:
when the nameserver / DNS changes propogate, all should be good. This should happen by lunchtime or so tomorrow.

Yup, that works. The Set-Cookie headers are sent for .net, and not .com alright. However, I don't get any redirect (30x Location header) when visiting .com or .com/index.php (my bookmark). Doesn't matter from tomorrow I guess!

Strange. If I telnet directly to port 80 on .com and enter a http request manually, I get a 302 moved and a location header to .net.

anyhoo, it should all be all right by some time tomorrow.

They are talking about cookies, so I presume there is a cow and a dirty floor somewhere as well.

This is really weird, but I have to log in twice to log in. The first time I try it tells you I'm logged in, but it tells me I'm still logged out. This wasn't happening yesterday. Stupid blackberry.

Maybe saying you're logged in as it only updates every so often so if you're logging out and in - it may not realise you've gone by the time you've come back! :D

Having to login twice may be something to do with the redirect? As in, you're logging into both domains ( .com and .net). If that's the case it should hopefully be sorted today once the DNS updates <crosses fingers>
