Blackrock Students

Post by thecoolfreak »

FINANCIER Dermot Desmond's son Derry's property was deliberately targeted in a graffiti attack by a number of Blackrock College students.

A gang of three spray-painted at night a car parked in front of the billionaire's home in Ailesbury Road, Dublin 4.

The Blackrock pupils defaced the car because they believed it was owned by Derry Desmond, who is a star player with St Michael's, a rival Dublin schools' rugby team.

The 'Rock pupils were caught out when they were captured performing their act of vandalism on Mr Desmond's extensive CCTV security system.

The number 65 was daubed on the car, which was not owned by Derry, in reference to how many times Blackrock College hopes to have won the Leinster Senior Cup by the end of the team's current campaign.

This footage was forwarded to Blackrock College headmaster Alan McGinty.

Mr McGinty did not return calls yesterday.

The spray-paint incident is one of a number of worrying events that occurred recently involving Blackrock College students during its latest schools' rugby campaign.

Daubing

A few weeks ago pupils in the school are believed to have been behind daubing the walls of changing rooms at St Michael's School, also on Ailesbury Road.

An attempt was made to throw any possible investigation 'off the scent' by deliberately using the name of Clongowes College among the graffiti.

And last week in a further incident, an upmarket bar near Blackrock was forced to turf out more than a dozen Blackrock College pupils wearing school rugby jerseys.

This followed them becoming very intoxicated, loud and boisterous after their team's victory over Kilkenny College.

One of the Blackrock College pupils involved in defacing the car is the son of a prominent Dublin businessman. This businessman declined to comment yesterday.

The students involved in the incident are believed to have only been lightly disciplined by their prestigious school. Blackrock's next Senior Cup match takes place in Lansdowne Road on Friday when they play Belvedere, who narrowly edged the 'Rock out of last year's final.

Last year, Blackrock College beat St Michael's 20-13 in a closely fought battle in the quarter final of the Leinster Senior Cup in the latest instalment of rivalry between the schools.

What a bunch of complete idiots. Never understood why a guy like Desmond would have such a high profile - Everyone knows what he looks like and everyone who hangs around D4 knows which one his house is on Ailesbury Road, it's hardly a secure house for a high profile target like him. Most of those super wealthy guys live off the beaten track, behind serious security and a nice long avenue so the little shits don't get an easy time if they're up to no good.

The latter part of the article is complete b*%&!x though - who cares if they got drunk and got asked to leave a bar - happens in Kiely's after every single senior cup game.

Don't believe everything you read Duff, the car was parked ON Ailesbury road not in the driveway.

Ah - had a feeling there was a bit of sensationalism. Still, what the fock was the cop doing across the road, outside Albert Reynolds gaff? Asleep on the job again?

Also, Who are Rock playing this week in the Cup...Belvedere..who is a Belvederian?

Although it is a true story about the car etc, it does nothing but sensationalise the rugby schools profile.

These Rock boys in particular were suspended and dropped from the team for the Kilkenny game...

Pres were royally focked over by the media a few years ago after we reacted to those knackers from St.Pauls at the DART station after a senior cup match. They still bring it up now! Most of my mates went to Michaels and there are some complete headcases in that school at the moment - they'll be out for revenge.

Where does one draw the line between what happened in Dublin last Saturday and this? It would appear that these guys have been stupid enough to do this spraypainting thing twice. Once you might shrug off as high spirits, twice is just vandalism and thuggery.

If Blackrock college had anything about them or any principles they would kick these guys out. Simple as that. Chances of this happening? Zero.

The captain on the SCT was one of the artists, if you check the paper he was stripped of his captaincy between the 1st and 2nd match.

For the sake of the cup Belvo must win on Friday
Down with 10 man rugby!

Was thinking about this - questions should be asked of Dermot Desmond. Why didn't he give the tape to the Gardai? Going to the headmaster of Rock is just more self perpetuation of the system that hushes up, hides, makes normal kids believe they are above the law and almost like gods.....

Its yet another symptom of the world we live in here in Dublin. There are certain "untouchables" in this town. What kind of a school educates kids to feel they are superior simply because they play rugby? Jumping lunch lines, treated as superior, skipping lessons and apparently answerable to nobody. They break the law and are shielded from its consequences. Its fockin disgraceful and the press are right to go after them.

3 SCT's in 4 years........but the hockey players still have to stand in line at lunch with the plebs....

As for gay, I spent maths classes trying to get the phone number of the gorgeous American blonde sitting next to me. Meanwhile, the Rock boys were probably playing soggy biscuit in the all male dorms.... :P

McGinty the head of Rock is old school and definitely one to circle the wagons. Look at the reaction over the Anabels case.

Bit of a "Scent of a Woman" scenario - might have to send Pacino in...."Cradle of leadership? I oughtta take a flamethrower to this place!!"
