Bit of a disaster but compensated somewhat by the return of mighty mouse and super Brough....

Seriously if we don't get a result on Sunday, could be a long season...that derby game could be Division 2 rather than 1.. :?

I guess the big game in Div 1 this weekend is Naas and Navan I suspect Naas will start much better this year however when push comes to shove and the wet and cold weather comes in I would expect them to come unstuck. Seapoint will win div 1 going away and Portlaoise will be make up the running as best of the rest..... Sorry GH but I think you guys could be facing the drop. Not enough strings to your bow especially now the black Panther has moved on to pastures green

Results from Day 1 of the LL3 (not really the glamourous games, but there you go!):

Division 3 01/10/2006
Swords 15 - 22 Clondalkin
Rathdrum 46 - 0 Athboy
Gorey 3 - 24 Longford
CYM 16 - 3 Wexford
Birr 3 - 8 Tullow
Balbriggan 18 - 16 Malahide
Arklow 19 - 16 Clane

The CYM v Wexford game: very encouraging performance from CYM. Not perfect though - it wasn't good that we couldnt put away a game in which we dominated possession and territory, against an admitteely young Wexford side, but much of that was due to lack of match practice and rustiness.

Those two factors cleared showed, particularily in the last 20 when we let Wexford back into the game, but CYM picked up from where they finished last season in the cup rather than the performances that characterised our poor League season.

The new players performed very well, and defintely added to the side, and there was no real weak areas; it just didn't all come together as well as it could have done.

The lineout and scrum were excellent, both on our ball and Wexford's (we won a lot ball against the head and on their throw), and the backline ran great angles and defended well. We were rusty though, weren't clinical, and despite the good things we did do, things didn't quite "click". But it is the kind of game we would have lost last year, and the kind of game that, in a few weeks time, I would hope we will be able to put away better, and push for the bonus point which the pack's work certainly warranted. Certainly more positives than negatives.

Not too much can be read into the game in all honesty, but its pleasing all the same. Clane next week will be a much sterner test of how far we have or haven't come. We can still take encouragment from it all the same, and a win's a win.

Well done Longford on a great win away.

Arklow up next will be the real marker for the season.

Seapoint 15 - 6 Monkstown
Mullingar 31 - 29 Tullamore
Garda 58 - 7 Skerries
Enniscorthy 6 - 15 Cill Dara
Dundalk 23 - 18 Portlaoise
Boyne 28 - 0 Kilkenny

Welcome to Division 1 Skerries, Garda probably the worst team in Division 1 the last 3 years have allegedly splashed the cash and have recruited well however I don't think anyone would have expected that result. Amazing!! Dan Van Zyl sorry Dundalk returned to the top flight with aplomb and beat a highly fancied Portlaoise side. No other shocks expect as Oscar Wilde would the say the demise of Cill Dara has been greatly exaggerated, looked very comfortable against Enniscorthy whose big pack lacked fitness and ended up bullied by the more mobile 8 of Cill Dara.

Seapoint, Boyne and Mullingar picked up their expected wins with Naas leading Navan 16 - 9 after 60 mins before the ref pulled up with a hamstring strain. That game will be replayed.

I read that Garda won 38-7 rather than scoring 58, good win either way but can someone confirm?

Leinster League Div 1

Cill Dara v Naas
Will be another tight one. Naas have never beaten Cill Dara in the Leinster League. Can't see that record be broken in Beechpark. Home Win

Kilkenny v Mullingar
Mullingar great at home, terrible away. Kilkenny to edge it.

Monkstown v Garda
No loveloss between these two clubs, will learn a lot more about Garda this week. Home win.

Navan v Boyne
Another derby game, Navan's home advantage to tell.

Portlaoise v Seapoint
Portloaise will have been stung by last weeks result, do Seapoints fancy dans have the legs for a trip to Laois. I think so,

Skerries v Enniscorthy
Hard to call, both sides failed to impress last week. A long journey for Enniscorthy, thought their fitness levels were poor last week as well. All adds up to a home win.

Tullamore v Dundalk
Tullamore are wounded. Home Win

Leinster League Div 3

Most predictions here based on history and last weeks results.

Athboy v Gorey
Away Win

Clane v CYM
Home Win.

Clondalkin v Birr
Home Win

Longford v Arklow
Home Win

Malahide v Swords
Home Win

Tullow v Rathdrum
Away Win

Wexford v Balbriggan
Away Win

Clane v CYM
Away Win. ;)

Clondalkin v Birr
Home Win

Longford v Arklow
Home Win

Malahide v Swords
Home Win

Tullow v Rathdrum
Away Win. Easily

Wexford v Balbriggan
Balbriggan beat a good Malahide side last week. Away Win

Things have changed obviously since my playing days there....

Fancy used to mean a hot shower...

Just some news RE Leinster League...Mullingar vs. Tullamore...

It turns out Mullingar fielded 2 illeligable players on Sunday, and the match will be re-played sometime in November...

Supposidly, the Leinster branch told them that they couldn't field these two fella's, who are contracted to Buccaneers on the Saturday and they did anyway.

Leinster branch checked the team sheets on the Monday and called them up on it!

Not only that but they have been docked 2 points as well. Hard luck for Mullingar but great for some of the weaker sides in Division 1.

Not a good day for the Cill Dara Boys lost both local derbies this year and now Chris Moore maybe out for a couple of weeks suspension. Could prove very costly

Naas were good for their win, we had our chances but our inability to get the line-out going in the last 10 minutes, we lost 7 :? , was the difference. Credit it to Naas they had their homework done. The red card can be considered harsh but was probably deserved. We also lost a prop to concussion which is even worse news. Bad few weeks for bragging rights alright and this week is not the week I would have chosen to visit league leaders Boyne.

From what I've seen so far, top 4 is very much a realistic target for us.

Great win for Longford against a big physical Arklow pack with 4 good tries scored by the home team.

Good rugby played by both teams with the ball spread wide.

Arklow will challenge despite this result. Leinster win on Friday, Longford win on Sunday... oh what a perfect day(s).!!!!

Tullamore-Dundalk...pissing rain , but both teams were adament about spreading the ball wide....was a good spectacle given the conditions....and a few scraps thrown in for good measure too!
