Leinster League 2017/2018

Post by flustered »

Any news on any coaching changes, new players across the divisions

Wicklow have lost some key players (and coaches).......how will they fare in Div 1A
How are Enniscorthy looking this season, how will Boyne fare on their return to the junior ranks.

Wicklow have recruited both George Naoupu as head player/coach and Former Blackrock coach Billy Ngawini as backs player/coach. Recruited a couple of other players too afaik, so should be able to compete in 1A this season.
Alas I have little more than vintage wine and memories.....

He got a nice wedge (allegedly) for keeping them up in 1A.

Proper rugby returns in less than 2 weeks. Really looking forward to live rugby. I think we will have to cut all teams some slack as many haven’t hit a ruck or made a tackle in a year and a half.

God it was great to be back at club rugby. Enjoyed it hugely as did all the players. Decent standard for first game in 18 months

If Monkstown get promoted to the AIL next Saturday, Ashbourne, DLSP and Edenderry will all remain in 1a, 1b and 2A.

If Monkstown win on Saturday, Asbourne, DLSP and Edenderry all avoid relegation. Would it not make sense to only play these relegation deciders after the AIL RR is over

I kind of prefer the jeopardy. My own club missed out on promotion a number of years ago when beaten in a play off and we awaited the AIL play off game. Sligo kicked a last minute sideline conversion to win and that stopped us getting promoted. It maintains a lot of interest in games that might otherwise be meaningless.

Monkstown lost on Saturday with Ballyclare scoring a last minute try and conversion. Monkstown will still be promoted if they can beat Bangor who will be at home.
