Rock could only a manage a draw with a very average Kilkenny side.Kilkenny opened the scoring with a penalty before Rock replied with a converted try soon afterrwards. Kilkenny had a try disallowed late on in the first half for punching in the ruck. Rock had a penalty converted early in the second half, making it 10-3. Rock led with 5 mins to go but Kilkenny manged to pick and drive over the line after a maul from 5 metres out.Kilkenny's outhalf Craig Ronaldson managed to convert the try from the touchline. Rock had a chance to win with a penalty with 2 minutes to go but Rock fullback Ian Madigan saw his kick veer to the left of the posts.
Both teams will face each other again at some time over the next week
