All the heavyweights are on one side of the draw so it could a fairly easy passage to the semi's for some lucky team.

I've heard that CUS who are in the top half are pretty handy. They have beaten most of the big boys during the year and cld prove to be dark horses

top half semi

Post by cj »

Seems a bit lopsided alright...Andrew's vs. CBC semi predicted.

So how do they claim to do the Cup 'draws' these days? I've always thought they just make up all the fixtures - I have good reasons to think this is true and not just a rumour. Maybe they're looking to get a smaller rugby school into the semis here, for instance. But seems pretty obvious that they try to avoid massive mis-matches in the first round, eg. 'Rock vs. Qualifier from weaker section or whatever. Any views?

It does look like that alrite.

I'd say Gonzaga should beat Andrew's in the first round and it will most likely be them that will progress to the final from the top half. The other semi-finalist looks a lot more difficult to predict because i've heard that all 4 of CUS, Newbridge, CBC and Roscrea are pretty similar in terms of talent.

CUS are pretty shocking compared to newbridge, pres bray and gonzaga. gonzaga put 60 points on them in the league.

no, i know CUS people. Why would CUS play their 2nds in the league? That would be real smart.

H: Belvedere College v Clongowes Wood College (Donnybrook, February 5)

Didn't realise that the Junior Cup kicks off today - shame that it clashes with Scotland V France in the 6N.
