WTF Only 4 Leinster Players in Irish Schools Team?

Post by Fat Franker »

Hi guys,

Irish schools team was announced today, but despite Leinster having won the inter-provincial series, winning all their games in the process, they only have 4 players in the squad of 26.

And most worryingly of all, only ONE Leinster back is in the squad. What has happened to the Leinster Schools tradition of producing quality backs in large numbers?

Anyone know if the Irish squad is strong or not? Will they beat the frenchies?

thats the under 18s isn't it, because if it was 19s i'd expect many more to be from leinster considering their SA tour and interpro win

The Ireland Schools Team is Under 18s. There is no Under 19s at international level.

That was the Leinster Under 18s team that won all their games in South Africa. Both Leinster Under 18s and Under 19s won their respective inter-pros.

thought that was a mix in SA because nearly all those who played there are on the 19s this year. I reckon most are ineligable to play 18s because thats how it was last year.

In all fairness how do any of you know what players from outside of the Dublin area are like? Did it ever occur to you that maybe the Munster and Ulster players are better and deserve their places ahead of a Leinster player?

the top leinster schools sides like michaels, clongowes and rock usually beat the likes of pres and christians easily. games are usually tighter with northern teams ecause there is an age difference but the leinster schools are usually on top. surely there should be a coach from each province so that favouritism doesnt take place
