Towns Cup

Post by Planet Rugby »

Anyone have any views on this years towns cup. My money on Navan to do it again.

Kilkenny Edenderry - Kilkenny win
Tullow Boyne - Tullow win (boyne terrible this year)
Longford Skerries - Skerries (just)
Wexford Wanderers Roscrea - Roscrea
Portlaoise Clane - Portlaoise
Newbridge Rathdrum - Newbridge
Swords Naas - Naas
North Kildare Gorey . N.Kildare
Wicklow Portarlington - Wicklow
Co. Carlow Enniscorthy - Enniscorthy
Clondalkin Tullamore - Tullamore
Arklow New Ross - Arklow
Mullingar Athy - Mullingar
Ashbourne Dundalk - Ashbourne -

Only shock I see is Ashbourne to beat Dundalk and Tullow to beat Boyne.

Kilkenny Edenderry - Kilkenny
Tullow Boyne - Boyne
Longford Skerries - Skerries by 30
Wexford Wanderers Roscrea - Roscrea
Portlaoise Clane - Portlaoise
Newbridge Rathdrum - Newbridge
Swords Naas - Naas
North Kildare Gorey . N.Kildare
Wicklow Portarlington - Wicklow
Co. Carlow Enniscorthy - Co Carlow
Clondalkin Tullamore - Tullamore
Arklow New Ross - Arklow
Mullingar Athy - Mullingar

Do Navan have a bye to the 2nd round (why???). No shocks I think. Dundalk have too much attack for Ashbourne. Boyne should overcome Tullow.
Skerries to go one step further this year!!!!!!!!!

25 - 3 at half time, could easily have been a major upset with the clock saving Skerries. It would have been great just to see the look on Jim Glennons face!

I would think Arklow are licking their lips at the thoughts of Wicklow coming down the N11. They are flying in division 3. Wicklow are having a mediocre season. Would think it should be a good cup tie with nothing between the sides with ten to go. Decent crowd should turn up too. Probably the game of the day!

Dundalk 6 Cill Dara 27, Cill Dara are the first team to advance to the 1/4 finals, with a comprehensive victory over Dundalk in difficult conditions. All of the other games take place next Sunday.

Saw wicklow beat arklow today somthing like 17-3 if i remember rightly. Neither team played well, not help by the referee who gave loads of penalties. He also managed to give 4 yellows and a red in what was an unusually good tempered match.

Navan v Tullamore,

Pick of the round although playing at home you'd have to fancy Navan but Tullamore are in good form, beat Seapoint last week and their only defeat since November was when they got beaten by Cill Dara 3 weeks ago. Navan to win by 5

Cill Dara v Mullingar,

Cill Dara will win this one well, probably by 12 - 15

Tullow v Portlaoise,

Tullow had good win over Naas in Naas, Portlaoise beat Newbridge. Home advantage to give us a shock....Tullow by 4 - 7

Wicklow v Enniscorthy

Di vision 1 sides at home don't lose to the divisions below, Wicklow by 6 - 10.

Navan V Tullamore, this is the tie of the round, I fancy Tullamore to cause an upset, they are in great form & their confidence will be high after beating Seapoint in the AIB cup.

Tullow V Portlaoise, Portlaoise to win this one they seem to thrive in the Towns Cup, I think they will have to much upfront for Tullow.

Wicklow V Enniscorthy, Wicklow to win in a tight game.

Cill Dara V Mullingar, CD should win this one on form, but could be distracted by upcoming league games. Home win.

Semi Finalists
Navan - Very close game and hard to call
Tullow - Close game. Hard to call.
Cill Dara - Kildare men to win by 15
Enniscorthy - Wicklow decimated by injuries and will struggle.
