Junior Rugby Coaches merry-go-round

Post by Durkah Durkah »

I've never started a new topic before, I'm all tingely with excitement!
Anywho, what's the story on coaches for next season? AFAIK coaches have left Tullamore, Dundalk, Portlaoise, Wicklow and Ashbourne. Any other "casualties"/"resignations"? And who has taken their places? The only appointment I have heard is Melly at Tullamore.

I know it;s not junior rugby but on a coaching level, Aidan McCullen is returning from London Irish to be a player/assistant coach with Lansdowne next season.

Melly is quite a good coach, his biggest failing however anytime I see him play is his lack of trust in his team mates and he tends to call a lot of moves on himself. A few years ago that wasn't an issue but he's not as quick or fit these days, not sure if he'll progress Tullamore any further but it will be interesting to watch. He's actually the leading try scorer in AIL history. He will have no involvement with Athy.

Liam Toland has been linked with Naas.
