'Molly Malone' to hit the charts this week...

'Molly Malone' to hit the charts this week...

A legion of Leinster Rugby supporters have teamed up with Eurovision Song Contest winner Paul Harrington and his siblings The Harrington Brothers to record a new charity rendition of anthem 'Molly Malone'...
This new version of ‘Molly Malone’ will go on sale this Friday, 23rd January for just €2.99 and all proceeds will go to the four dedicated charities of Leinster Rugby - Welcome Home, MS Ireland, Our Lady’s Children's Hospital, Crumlin and Action Breast Cancer. A fifth charity, SOSAD, which gives professional help to those affected by suicide, will also benefit.

The Harrington Brothers will also perform the song live at the RDS before the Leinster v Edinburgh Heineken Cup match on Sunday 25th January.

Paul Harrington, 1994 Eurovision Song Contest winner, said: “The Harrington Brothers - that’s myself, Richard, Robert and Derek – originally recorded a version of ‘Molly Malone’ in the 1990’s for the Canadian and USA markets. ‘Molly Malone’ is the traditional song of Leinster Rugby and we are delighted to have the opportunity to revive it.”

“It was an absolute privilege to use our version of the song to raise money for these extremely worthy charities. We hope the proceeds will help Welcome Home, MS Ireland, Our Lady’s Children's Hospital Crumlin, Action Breast Cancer and SOSAD to get the funds they need to carry on doing the brilliant work that they do.”

Peter Breen, Media & Communications Manager with Leinster Rugby, added: “Leinster Rugby are proud to help support five incredible charities; each of whom contribute so much to alleviate the plight of the sick, lonely and elderly as well as those who are isolated and on the fringes of society.”

“That the Official Leinster Supporters Club has assisted in the production of this single will further strengthen the bond between the club and the wider community. We are excited by this project and hope that it will raise much needed funds and increase awareness in the days, weeks and months ahead.”

“Leinster Rugby would like to thank all those who have given their time, commitment and enthusiasm to this project; particularly the Harrington family, Declan King and all the production team at The Production Suite and at Westland Studios. We would ask all of our supporters to dig deep and support this cause.”

‘Molly Malone’ will be available from Friday 23 January for just €2.99 from all major record stores and all official Leinster Rugby outlets. It can also be downloaded from iTunes.

Bought on iTunes. cr@p version of the song, but worthy cause. Do the charities get more, less, or the same amount from an iTunes sale vs. a CD sale?

So why can't we buy the faster one instead?

Bought it. May not make my top 25 played though; It would have to take a lot of listening to knock Andrew Strong's version of Ireland's Call off the top spot.

Help wanted: I decided to buy it online this evening from the Leinster Ezine but I'm going around in circles. When I get to the site it asks me if I want to download the Harrington brothers? - with no option to say yes or click a link. What do I do next? Anyone else confused? (I already have itunes so wasn't going to go the download itunes route)
