In interview with the Beeb, O'Brien (K) said that he would rather have qualified form the group than scoring the ton against England. He's right of course, we a top class associate member but England apart we failed to deliever when it counted against the big boys.

Funny how Ireland Cricket World Cup is going to reflect our 6N's, very disspointing really we beat the other associate in our group (Sctoland & Italy) and only the England game to look back on as any sort of success (asuming we knock the Chariot off course again tomorrow)....

Dockrell apart I don't think any of the lads delivered consitently, KO'B in particuar wil be unhappy somewhat with his contribution outside of the England game (with the ball he was 4 wickets for 17 Overs at nearly 7 an Over, even the wayward Rankin was cheaper after 55 Overs)...

The big question is where to now for the Ireland Cricket team? Realistically we don't have the resources or interest to support Test matches. With the changing view by the ICC on associates participating in the CWC and the emergence of Afghanistan as a new power thing could grind to a halt pretty quickly.

The next year will be pretty interesting to say the least....

The Saffies have done it yet again! They have blown a reasonably secure winning position against New Zealand to lose by 50 runs and are out of the World Cup. They seem to choke every time! :?: :?: :?:

While they insist on playing that chucker I'll never ever feel sorry for them.

Ireland omitted from Cricket World Cup

Confirmation
The International Cricket Council have confirmed the next two World Cups will be contested by 10 teams, dealing a major blow to associate nations such as Ireland.

The recently completed competition featured 14 sides but the ICC executive board had made their intentions clear last October to cut that by four for the 2015 and 2019 events.

Idiots. The ICC is the worst governing body in world sport, bar none.

Mr Lorgat and his ICC colleagues in Dubai are focussed totally on money rather than on the good of cricket. Perhaps their TV paymasters complained. The format of the World Cup this time around was very unbalanced, to put it mildly. The group stages took over a month to decide how the top eight teams would line up against each other in the quarter finals, and there were no surprises there. Then the quarter finals, semi finals and the final were rattled off in 10 days. I am sure that a more imaginative solution could have been developed to address that issue.

We could well have qualified if we had beaten Bangladesh, or if England had not beaten South Africa or tied with India. It was that close! What is very evident is the gulf between us and the other associate ICC member, which makes this decision all the more galling.

Exactly! The Australians supported the move because they felt that their campaign was negatively affected by lag time between games. Ignoring the fact that the current Australians aren't actually a very good team....Fine, change the schedule. However, the answer is not end the cricketing future of an entire nation!

Since the world cup there have been kids out on the green in front of us playing cricket every night and weekend all dreaming of being Kevin O'Brien in the world cup. You kill the dream, you kill the future.

Ah yes....the oul Jax experience at the Aviva.....approx 15 minutes of chaos and guaranteed to miss at LEAST 5 minutes of game time......missed one of Ciano's tries against Cleremont for this reason! :evil:
