Ireland Club XV
Am I the only one going to the Club international v England Counties tonight?
I'll be very interested to see how Craig Ronaldson plays at OH.

Any time I've seen him for Lansdowne, he's looked a really good all-round ten.Exile wrote:Am I the only one going to the Club international v England Counties tonight?

Re: Ireland Club XV
some impressive players on show, Ben Reilly in the 2nd row is a class act as is Lett in the centre. Hurley at 9 is a better player than stringer or williams but apparently didnt want to turn pro.
Re: Ireland Club XV
Any update on this game?
Re: Ireland Club XV
Ireland clubs 30 English clubs 20 FT according to Twitter.

Ireland win 30-20.
Poor scrum but good lineout & continuity play.
Impressed with Hurley, Morrow & second rows.
V impressed with Ronaldson. He was harshly banned but he kicked six from seven & had a good all-round game.

The women are playing tomorrow too.
Re: Ireland Club XV
Go the women. That would be by far the biggest upset.

Fair play to them.

But lets remind ourselves that England are keeping their best players on ice for the Sevens World Cup

I wish people would remind themselves of such squad depletion when Leinster and Ireland senior men have good results.
England have the biggest player pool and the greatest resources of any women's team. So the fact thath they're playing a "depleted" side doesn't affect them as much as other nations. Realistically, how many of their forwards are going to be playing world cup sevens? Ireland women don't even have a sponsor.
Even New Zealand women haven't had a proper competition for years as NZRU doesn't want to put money into that team.
That England side whipped Scotland a week ago and nobody decried their lack of first team players then, so why now?

''England have rested 17 front-line players for the Six Nations in order to concentrate on the Sevens World Cup in June.
And head coach Gary Street made eight changes, one positional, from the side that thumped Scotland last week.''
I think resting 17 players and making 8 further changes is more than a depleted team. I am not knocking the Irish team that is a depleted English side.
