Fergie retires

Post by juanca »

Official. So who's next? Seemingly big money has been going on David Moyes since the weekend.
End of an era!

Huge.
I don't believe this but I've heard a number of times in Liverpool that Moyes was lined up to replace Fergie. A friend of a friend is certain of it but I don't buy it.
Ferguson is too big and I don't think Moyes would keep Utd's fans happy.

Moyes has been the strong rumour for quite a while, but it's hard to imagine what appointment could satisfy Utd fans.

Whoever it is will have to come with the SAF imprimatur. It is reported that Moyes is the man he sees as his successor, whether thats true or not I don't know, but thats the story doing the rounds.

Its unlikely to be Rafa anyways!

Shocked, I've never known football without Fergie.

Can't believe it'll be Moyes, 0 trophies, 0 champions league experience.

Fergie moving upstairs? This could be bad news for ManUtd.
Moyes would be perfect for Fergie, a meek underboss easily dominated and easily cast aside. I doubt he would chose say, Mourino. He could end up being overshadowed. Especially if the "special one" began to win trophies regularly in europe, something that was beyond Sir Alex.

A certain man in Madrid has been pining for a new home. Would not be very surprised if the Special one comes back to the premiership, but not to the Chelsea fans who have been begging him to return.

Would imagine its between Moyes and Jose.

I'd have to admit, I'd probably get a good laugh out of the Chelsea fans after their serenading of Jose the other day if he ends up going to MU.

Lots of twitter talk that "sources" within MU saying that it won't be Jose.

Looks like Moyes is going to Utd. So Rafa could be in line for the Everton job as he lives in the city ;)

Moyes is an obvious choice at the mo.
No one is bigger than Manchester Utd - Jose would be.

Man Utds share price has dropped significantly on the news. Moyes wont appease the share holders, Jose would.

I hope its Moyes, he deserves a shot for the work hes done at Everton. I wonder if they have the balls to give him the job?

Not that I care, but looks official that Moyes' gets the gig. I can't help but wonder if he'll turn out to be another Martin O'Neill - gets the maximum from a poor squad of average-ish players, but can't cut the mustard at a bigger club.

Other than him being Scottish and a pet of Fergie's I can't see why they've gone for Moyes at all.

I can see this going swiftly tits up with Fergie being drafted back in as "temporary manager" within 18 months.

They don't seem to have learned the lessons of Busby's "retirement" at all.

They don't but you would imagine that Fergie is astute enough to have learned.

Moyes call is based on finding and getting the best from individuals, although the fact that Utd have met with Ronaldo already speaks volumes for the level of decision making Moyes will be involved at.

6 year contract for Moyes. That's backing him in fairness to them!
