The Office of Public Works is pleased to announce that on the first Wednesday of every month in 2013, all OPW managed Heritage Sites will continue to offer FREE ADMISSION to individuals wishing to visit these sites for the duration of their season!

Yep because agressive below cost selling by large multi national retailers never involves pressure on local suppliers or local independent retailers....

Great and all as these deals are they actually can do huge harm to an economy in the long run if not kept in check as competitors run the risk of being irreprably damaged e.g. Aldi/Lidl move into a town/village and very shortly you see the smaller shops, sometimes family run, see their business destroyed all of a sudden suppliers especially smaller producers have a lack of options in terms of who they can sell too and it becomes a vicious circle.

Dem's de breaks of an open market. I actually agree with you that a race to the bottom is not necessarily what we want to see in any market. But "food poverty" is a massive item in the news at the moment so I think you'll find it very hard to argue convincingly that making fresh food more affordable is a bad thing in the current climate.
