I have the Samsung S5(jumped up from S2)......very happy with it. No quirks or foibles.....good battery life but I took John G's advice a few months ago and bought extra batteries so never an issue now regardless. Having said that I don't use it much outside of calls, e mail, a few photos and a couple of apps(eg Map My Run/facebook/Twitter)
Can you change the battery on the new S5? I heard you couldn't.
Yes, absolutely.

Went for the S5 in the end - wasn't based on the fact the phone was free - it was the rather fetching electric blue back cover swung it over the M8.

Not sure if it's the same as up here but I know 2 people with Tesco mobile and they have a fiasco every time they leave the country on holidays, normally finish up borrowing phones or using call boxes

Nice. Over 30 years ago I used to build disk systems the size of about 6 washing machines with a total storage of about half a per cent of this fingernail sized device.

Massive capacity at the time in fairness when the PCs of the time (such as they were) could fit their OS, all their apps and all their docs on a few hundred kB. Which is about 0.0001% of this fingernail sized device.

Mind blowing. If you are into that type of thing.

I think we need a nostalgia thread.
Anyone remember or even heard of the IBM360 for example.

I had a (Nokia) Mobira Cityman in 1989. 3200 Punts + Vat, and another 1200 + Vat for the car kit. Nearly as big as a housebrick too. And if you pulled it out in a pub (ooer) people would look at you like you had just stabbed their granny.

Ah good times!

I wouldn't know about that. Just had an image of John hitting the local, checking the action then whipping it out and waiting for the scrum of dolly birds. Lekking 101.

Changed my number and my Iphone died!

I got a pay as you go sim to keep in contact at work, it came with a samsung phone - nothing smart or bluetooth. (had to go through several sim activations, about 4hrs on to Vodafone and 3 visits to their shop!)

Anyways, I charged this non-smart phone on Thursday - and its still got almost full power on Tuesday - bye bye Iphone!
