International break. No game til the 17th. Looks like its Klopp BTW.
I meant why back him at all if they were only going to give him until the start of October?

Klopp taking it would make it make sense though. It might have been a case of wanting him during the summer and him saying no but now he'd be up for it and they just want him in ASAP.

Jaysus LeRoux, if you can tell me what these FSG boys are thinking then fair play to you.

From where I'm sitting they haven't a focking clue and are just winging it.

When they replaced his coaches it was the beginning of the end. I wonder where this leaves Sean O'Driscoll and Gary McAlister now.

Rodgers can have few complaints, he got a decent enough run at it. He never got close to sorting out the defence though, even in the season they went close to the Premiership, it was still shite.

I reckon they planned on letting him start the season and seeing how things went. This is the second season for the signings he made with the Suarez money, so would have been a better indicator of how he/they were fitting to the system. He could have turned things around, and if he had we wouldn't be having this discussion. I think most people felt he had till the middle/end of November-ish to chart progress. The facts are, though, that the football has been awful - plenty of possession but no creativity, no defensive awareness and no clue what to do in front of goal. The results have mirrored the performances - indeed you could argue we were gifted the points against Bournemouth, possibly also against Stoke and maybe even the point at Arsenal. In light of this, the owners (rightly, imho) decided to accelerate his departure. There are a few bleeding hearts out there saying he shouldn't have been sacked, but the reality is that he has been given plenty of time, has spent an absolute fortune and has achieved nothing - the team look headless and most of the players he's bought in are shadows of their former selves. Whether that's his fault or not we'll find out. Surely no-one could argue that the club has progressed under his stewardship.

That's a bit harsh. The season that followed was pretty exciting.
But what a first press conference!

Damn you guys must be excited. Didn't see the press conference but as a fan of another premiership team I much prefer the idea of Rodgers managing you than Klopp.

Fair play, enjoy the optimism, and please god lets hope that wave of optimism doesn't result in another hammering of Spurs in a week or so. Why couldn't we play you a week ago :)

Hopefully the dawn of a bright new era....... but we've had those thoughts before over the past few years.
We all dream of a team of Sean O'Briens......

I'd take a draw right now. Spurs are playing well. We're aren't.
Plus Klopp hasn't had much time with them and it'll take time to implement his methods. Probably be next season before we see it properly.
Praying Sturridge stays fit as we're down to Origi as only fit strikers if he breaks down .

I'm delighted with the appointment. Didn't think he was within reach TBH.

I think you're safe enough....Sturridge now joining Ings & Benteke in the ranks of the injured. Not sure where our goals can/will come from?
We all dream of a team of Sean O'Briens......

Excellent performance yesterday, not to mention the result. The workrate, pressing etc has improved beyond belief already. Credit where it's due - Klopp is having the desired impact

So we've signed a central defender who has played only 3 times in the premiership and one of those performances was a 6-1 defeat to us. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
