Assistant coach Joe Barakat is returning to Aus (Force) in December
Payne at fullback for Glasgow...
Arguably all fullback back 3 of Payne Ludik Piatau

After that great win in Scotsoon, they deserve a new tag-line.
Great win and Paddy Jackson throwing down the gauntlet to Jonny. We are in for a treat. Hope Olding's knee is not serious damage. Looked nasty.

If Rory finishes off business in FedEx play-off, he could change the IRFU funding regime for Provinces with the extra $11m!

Only seen clips of the Ulster game but god that back line looks good, and wee Paddy's try must be an early contender for the try of the season. Great result for the nordies and they definitely look Top 4 in not final material.
Re: Ulster Rugby 2016/17
The Beeb highlights don't show the amazing almost-try that Paddy had, weaving through the entire field before either knocking on or having the ball punched out (I saw it on a crappy stream during the Leinster game and they didn't replay it so couldn't tell). Worth finding and watching. That Ulster backline gives one the soft horn.

I didn't know he had that kind of pace. I mean he managed to run around Stuart Hogg! Incredibly unlucky, great tackle though all the same.jezzer wrote:The Beeb highlights don't show the amazing almost-try that Paddy had, weaving through the entire field before either knocking on or having the ball punched out (I saw it on a crappy stream during the Leinster game and they didn't replay it so couldn't tell). Payne's disallowed try was a beauty as well.
Re: Ulster Rugby 2016/17
The lines and passing for that little "power play" were sweet. When I saw the ref go upstairs I thought it must have been a forward pass, but no, those little intricate passes were all spot on.LeRouxIsPHat wrote:I didn't know he had that kind of pace. ULSTER (v Edinburgh): Charles Piutau; Tommy Bowe, Luke Marshall, Sam Windsor, Robert Lyttle, Brett Herron, Ruan Pienaar; Callum Black, Rob Herring (capt), Wiehahn Herbst, Dan Tuohy, Franco van der Merwe, Peter Browne, Clive Ross, Sean Reidy.
Replacements: John Andrew, Kyle McCall, Andrew Warwick, Robbie Diack, Conor Joyce, Paul Marshall, Aaron Cairns, Jacob Stockdale
Interesting to see how guys like Stockdale, Cairns and others will do. Although Edinburgh isn't much of a barometer.

Re: Ulster Rugby 2016/17
Think I would have gone 15 Stockdale, 14 Lyttle, 13 Bowe, 12 Marshall, 11 Piutau.
Ulster are pretty short at no. 8, which is having a knock on effect on the rest of the back-row. They've got a hard-working blindside at openside, and a good openside at no. 8. Would it not have been better to keep those players in their best positions and have a look at Dow or Rea or Mulholland at 8?

South African international Arno Botha's move to Ulster has fallen through following a medical assessment, Ulster has announced
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!
