Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
I think the entire U20s pack will be completely changed this year with all of last years starters & subs being now over-age as far as I know. It will be very tough if no one in the pack has experience at this level. Normally there would be at least 1 or 2 forwards with experience from the previous year. The worry is they will just get out muscled and our backs won't even see the ball.simonokeeffe wrote:looking at the squad if we've Lyttle and Larmour on the wings thats going to be exciting to watch

Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
Cillian Gallagher (Connacht) certainly played last year - a big second-row. There maybe one other McBirney Ulster hooker may also be eligible up front. Not sure if there any backs.El Diablo wrote:I think the entire U20s pack will be completely changed this year with all of last years starters & subs being now over-age as far as I know. Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
It was close at half time with the Irish U20 set piece well on top. Tadgh McEloy at tight head did a lot of damage in the scrum and the Irish lineout was well drilled whereas the Leinster line out was mis-firing. However there were a lot of changes on both sides in the 2nd half and the Leinster team ran away with it. Not sure of the final score, something like 55 19 but I could be wrong. Billy O'Hora from Trinity U20s scored 3 tries in about 20 mins.....great finisher. Tommy O'Brien, Conor Dean and Caelan Doris all excelled. They will probably start for Ireland next week against the Munster selection. Lots of talent on display. Good entertainment in the 2nd half.

Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
The writer has credited Ronan Foley of UCD with the 3 late tries but it was definitely Trinity u20s Billy O'Hora. Great finisher.....cormac wrote:http://www.irishrugby.ie/news/38793.php#.WFrpOPmLTIU

Frustrating day for the Irish u20s backs as they were denied quality possession by a bigger, stronger Munster pack. 28 nil down at HT, Ireland were much improved in the 2nd half. Jordan Larmour the star turn for Ireland.

Its a decent result for the U20s. Many of the Munster side were 22/23 years old and battle hardened from playing in the UBL. Not too long to go now before the 6 nations.
Re: Ireland Under 20 2017
They have used a large number of players over the 2 games v Leinster & Munster. There is another camp next week when I presume numbers will be trimmed.dropkick wrote:El Diablo wrote:http://www.irishrugby.ie/news/38817.php#.WGVizlOLTIU

Is Fineen related to that actor fella? Can't be too many Wycherleys knocking about down south?

I'm sure we won't see the best of the U20s until the JWC (or whatever its called now) in the summer. The Welsh and English send their U18 and U19 squads to play a tournament in South Africa every year which is an advantage for them.
Theres a Wycherley terrace in Cork near UCC. I spent a while in a house there many moons ago.John23 wrote:Is Fineen related to that actor fella? Can't be too many Wycherleys knocking about down south?

Of course. Welsh, English do send their 18s to South Africa but also get guys playing Premiership, A level and if not in championship so playing pro rugby and at a decent level much more than we do.dropkick wrote:I'm sure we won't see the best of the U20s until the JWC (or whatever its called now) in the summer.
