Rewatching "The World At War" possibly one of the greatest and most harrowing yet gripping documentaries ever

Re: Box Sets... The Next One ???
Don't mock me, but, we just watched "The Crown". Neither of us has the slightest interest whatsoever in "royalty" from any country or period. Well, maybe Mesoamerica precolumbian but they had such mental names it's hard not to be a touch intrigued. Lots of people told us it was worth watching so we tried it. Anyway it's about the early years of the current English Queen as her Da is dying and she is becoming queen. It's probably a bit kind on just how far gone Churchill was then (played by John Lithgow), special mention for Matt Dr. Who Smith for making the queen's consort watchable rather than just some old racist toff.
One line review: You know the way that people said Wolf Hall was like Game of Thrones without the dragons? Well The Crown puts the dragons back in. And they are vicious dragons. Vindictive to a fault.

I enjoyed The Crown, well written (mostly), superbly performed and very lush.

I also (unexpectedly) enjoyed "The Crown". "Patriot" is my new fave though, jet black comedy about a folk singing American spy!

It's worth watching if you enjoyed the other Marvel shows on Nflicks but pretty patchyjimbobjoe wrote:Watched the first episode today end enjoyed it. Downhill from there?TerenureJim wrote:Iron Fist - a bit ham fisted

I enjoyed Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Daredevil never really gripped me. I'll stick with it though, easy watching when I don't want to concentrate too much!TerenureJim wrote:It's worth watching if you enjoyed the other Marvel shows on Nflicks but pretty patchyjimbobjoe wrote:Watched the first episode today end enjoyed it. The Expanse, season one is on netflix, it's great. Season two is made and a third will be.
I don't really like space science fiction, can't stand star trek, for example, but this is a cut above.
It's set 200 years in the future and is based around political shenanigans between Earth and Mars (formerly an earth colony), and the people
who inhabit the asteroid belt and who feel used and oppressed by the other two.
There is one slightly yuk sex scene a little bit into ep 1 but it's only a few seconds long.
After that it's action and intrigue all the way.

I came very late to it, but have really enjoyed The Walking Dead. I went on a long binge, and while there's some unevenness and the dialogue is variable, it's overall very entertaining and has some great female characters for a change.
Catastrophe, which I'm sure has been mentioned before, is superb and effortlessly maintaining a very high standard.

yup, it's well worth a watch. I've not read the comics and have no idea of the characters history of storylines, but this series definitely feels like a comic strip brought to life.Avenger wrote:I've recorded it but not got around to watching yet?Oldschoolsocks wrote:Anyone else watching Legion?

Yup, it's starting to knit together alright. Though, I think this could quite happily live in its own universe.
Finished ep8 now , slightly sad that I have to wait for more.

Just watched a series called The Team. Really enjoyed it. 3 murders happen in 3 different cities and 3 police forces work together. Has bits in English and bits subtitled.
As an aside we have taken to watching subtitled programme - you can't play on your phone and keep up. One less argument in our house.
