I completely missed this
Mohed Altrad, the Syrian-born billionaire owner of French Top 14 side Montpellier, will be denied any operational control over Gloucester if his multi-million pound investment in the Premiership club is approved later this month.

It is understood that Altrad abandoned his controversial plan to take a majority stake of 54 per cent in the Premiership club at a European Professional Club Rugby board meeting in Geneva last month in the face of overwhelming opposition from the governing bodies and clubs.

Now it can be disclosed that revised proposals to buy a 45 per cent stake would be bound by stringent regulations to prevent any perception of a conflict of interest – including severe sanctions that could see both Gloucester and Montpellier face expulsion from European competitions for up to five years for any breach.
That seems even madder. As to the bolded bit, sure they will, just like the salary cap!

Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Stade and R92 games postponed this weekend.

Super Rugby looking to cut down to 15/16 sides. The Rebels are the Aussie team who are in danger of being cut. The Southern Kings in danger in SA.

Japanese team was a farce and one too far but Australia doubly f'd up with Rebels, once side too many for them and their player base and it torpedoed the Force who had been doing really well and connecting with their city (Perth)
Kings was grand political folly even by SARFU standards

Probably for the best. A stadium share would make more sense than joining clubs but running 2 stadia.
