Ireland's Greatest Internationally Capped County XV

Post by Cor. Ind. »

To keep us distracted before, during and possibly after today's game!

All named players must satisfy the following criteria:

(1) Born or primarily raised/schooled in said county; and
(2) been internationally capped on or after 26 August 1995 (i.e. advent of professionalism).

CORK
1. Paul Wallace (45 caps)*
2. Terry Kingston (30)
3. Mike Ross (61)
4. DOC (94)*
5. MOD (23)
6. Billy Holland (1)
7. David Corkery (27)
8. POM (37)
9. Peter Stringer (98)
10. ROG (128)*
11. Simon Zebo (28)*
12. John Kelly (17)
13. Richard Wallace (29)*
14. Anthony Horgan (7)
15. Dominic Crotty (5)

* 5 of 15 B&I Lions

Kildare;

1.
2. Bernard Jackman (Newbridge College)
3. Tony Buckley (Newbridge College)
4. Bob Casey (North Kildare)
5.
6. Trevor Brennan (Barnhall)
8. Jamie Heaslip (Naas & Newbridge College)
9.
10.
11. Fionn Carr (Naas & Newbridge College)
12. Fergus McFadden (Clongowes)
13. Gordon D'Arcy (Clongowes)
14. Dave Kearney (Clongowes)
15. Geordan Murphy (Naas & Newbridge College)

No room for;

James Tracy (Naas & Newbridge College)
Rob Kearney (Clongowes)

Pending;

Adam Byrne (Naas & Naas CBS)

Can't get a full 15, obviously. Mick Doyle (Newbridge College) would help, cos I could move Trevor Brennan into the second row. Devin Toner played for North Kildare but lived in Meath at the time.

Robbie McGrath (Newbridge College) was scrumhalf on the '81 Triple Crown winning team.

Geordan Murphy actually played at out-half for Newbridge & Naas so arguably he should be there with RK at full-back

You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

So I'm new here gramps.

I note we both started threads here today. 6 have responded to mine thus far, 4 to yours. Only one of us is talking to themselves though. Anyway, enjoy your sojourn in Dumdrum...give my regards to the mirror and Joe. :wink:
