So are we marching to the stadium in Lyon? Only 1,500 of us so we'll be outnumbered like in Bordeaux five years ago. But the march from the Irish pub to the stadium and the reception the Clermont fans gave us was fantastic and is genuinely one of my best memories in rugby.

So let's do it again!!!

Just re-read the thread for Castres v Leinster (post-match comments) as a reminder of what can go wrong. IMO, Castres were the best team we faced all Season, in the most adversarial stadium.

That night we missed a lot of tackles, largely because of their physicality.
We missed a good few possibly tries, largely because of inexperience.
We missed a lot of experience, before and during the game.

Having watched a lot of Clermont games over the past fortnight, the following points are relevant:
~ Clermont have three key players, Lamarat, Parra and Chouly
~ Clermont generally win high-scoring games.
~ The Clermont front-row is nearly always illegal, driving up on opposition scrum.
~ The Clermont counter-attack is no longer lethal.
~ Clermont use box-kicking as a mid-field attacking tactic and chase hard.
~ The Clermont line-out is effective but not impervious to being turned over.
~ Clermont don't play well from behind.

Compared with the team we had out against Castres in January, a lot of experience has been gained and some experience has returned (notably Triggs, SO'B & Ferg). Possibly the most vital player for us is Luke McGrath. He had a stinker against Castres but has had some good games recently. He must play like a link, not the leader, for the first 50 mins at least.

Our match winners could be our front-row and back-row. These six guys should have the opportunity to impose themselves on the game. The other "wild card" is Joey. He is an unknown quantity at this level of European competition away from home. Ross Byrne replaced J10 at a vital point in the game in Castres and found the pressure tough.

So, much to ponder. But overall, a lot for the Blue Army to be hopeful about. This is not the Clermont of 2012-13-14. Europe has seen a couple of glimpses of Leinster 2017, but not our full hand. If our line-out and maul work, we just might enjoy this weekend.

So, even if they appeal Healy is likely to miss the SF. Big test for Dooley who's been very impressive in the limited game time hes had. Scrum always appear to be dominant but.not sure if thats not in part down to the weaker replacements he faces.
