Senior leagues are nearing and end at the moment..

Gonzaga are undefeated to date(5 wins, 1 draw) along with Roscrea(4 win, 1 draw) and Gerards(4 wins)

St. Michaels are as strong as usual in preseason with recent wins over Belvedere and Blackrock.

David Hawkshaw returns to try and win his 3rd senior cup at 10.

Is Liam Turner captaining Blackrock? It will be his 3rd SCT campaign so he would be the natural choice.

Leinster Senior Cup first round draw:

Belvedere College v Gonzaga College
Terenure College v St Michael’s College
Vinnie Murray qualifier 2 v Roscrea
St Fintan’s High School v St Gerard’s
Blackrock College v Castleknock College
Newbridge College v Presentation College Bray
Clongowes Wood College v Vinnie Murray qualifier 1
St Mary’s College v St Andrew’s College

Michaels have been form team in preseason but nothing new there, have the most talented 1-23.

Belvo have the most talented player in David Hawkshaw who is attempting to win his 3rd senior cup at starting 10.

Blackrock have been heavily affected by injury but will be very hard to beat come cup time.

What would you say the reason behind Michaels’ lack of success In the cup, relative to the amount of talent they have is? It’s pretty difficult to explain, since so many of the players in each of their teams have gone on to play professionally.

the majority of their current pros were pretty successful in school when they won one cup and lost another in the final.

they were poorly coached when Ryan/Deegan were in 5th/6th year and under performed.

Yeah it’s pretty reasonable when you put it that way to your credit. They have been in a lot of finals which obscures it, although 1 senior cup in the past 10 years is a pretty poor output.

Aren't they a far smaller school than say... Rock though. Wbich means that although they turn out a phenomenal number of quality players they are less likely to have 30 of them at the same time in one sct

Yeah they have roughly 100 per year, and Blackrock have 200 per year, so Blackrock have a playing pool of 600 to choose from, while Michael’s have 300. The number of players they’ve produced is pretty amazing with regards to those figures. And a lot more in the system as well, there are probably 3 future pros leaving school this year.

Yeah a lot of money has been invested in it. The difference between the pitches before and after they improved them is pretty staggering, which you can see here.

Belvo scraped a win against Gonzga 11-10.. star back David Hawkshaw(12) left injured in 1st half, feared he will miss next game and potentially the rest of the cup.

Ruadhan Byron(8) was the star man for Bevledere, while Jack Connolly(9) was a standout for Gonzaga.

Full time Michaels 25 Terenure 13
Terenure looked good early but Michaels showed their quality and deservedly won. Michaels out half David Moran out for cup while under age Leinster centres Dominic Henry Hayes and Ross Mcinnes were out for Terenure
