5. Mick Kearney(44)
6. Caelan Doris(8)
7. Dan Leavy(61)
8. Max Deegan(33)
9. Jamison Gibson Park(64)
10. Ross Byrne(62)
11. James Lowe(23)
12. Conor O'Brien(11)
13. Rory O'Loughlin(53)

It looks like Fardy is getting a rest this week so could see him involved at the expense of Lowe, need some leadership in the pack. Leavy is the interesting one. Is he injured? If not then the call to leave him out of the Ireland squad is bonkers.

So I'd swap Kearney for Fardy and Adam Byrne for James Lowe.

And I'd switch Rory and Conor in the centres. What about Vak at 3?

Yeah, I'd love an update on Leavy. What's going on with him? If he needs a procedure, he should just sort it out. My sense is he's trying to avoid one, but that's obviously not working out.

You don't get left out of the Irish squad for a calf injury that might be right by the end of this week.

Byrne off with a HIA so probably won't play next week. Reid or Frawley to start?
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Ruddock(c) 19/2 Tackles

I think he was left out of the irish squad so he could play this one while the lads are off in Portugal, dont think we could ofrisked reintegrateing two backrows this week. Joe said he would be back in the squad once he proves his fitness.

'Although most of his internationals will travel to Portugal, Cullen may retain a couple in need of game-time for the clash with Scarlets on Friday. He was due to have a discussion with Schmidt on the topic last night.' according to ROC in Indo.

Leavy will surely be one of those if fit.

Possibly SOB and maybe Jack M or Porter too.

RK might be another.

Can't see Henshaw staying considering he's a possible starter and got a good chunk of game yesterday.

Leavy isn't in the squad so isn't travelling to Portugal anyway.

That's true, albeit Schmidt did say he would be included as soon as he's fit.

In any case if he is fit he'll be playing for us on Friday.

Leo said, after the Wasps game, that Leavy was getting better but Friday may be 'too soon'. They'd assess it when they got back but it didn't sound like he was too hopeful

A Byrne is with Ireland and JM/RK are left at home to get game time.

So we're looking at:

McGrath, Tracy, Bent, Molony, Kearney, Doris, Leavy/Penney, Deegan, JGP, Frawley, Lowe, Reid, ROL, DK, RK
Dooley, Byrne, Vakh, Dowling, Penney/Murphy, HOS, COB, Daly

Or else Fardy in and Lowe out.

Not a bad side!

A sloppy tackle that resulted in a head clash because Byrne slipped.
Looked groggy afterwards. No point in playing him.

Frawley had his 80 minutes against Ulster, so you would reckon it's his - needs to stop throwing intercepts (or potential intercepts).

The prognosis would appear to depend on which report in which paper you read - lots of differing takes on his return to action.
