Leinster v Cheetahs Friday 1st March 7.35pm KO

Post by mildlyinterested »

Waiting to hear injury update but maybe we will see Leavy/Ruddock return this week.

Mick Kearney surely a doubt.

Not sure if we will see Jack Mc and other ireland squad players etc. due to him playing yesterday and quick turn around.

Jack needs the run. We could see Ringer and Henshaw back for this too.

A chance for Patterson to get a start? Maybe that would be spreading the gametime too thin though - since it's HOS in the Euro squad who needs to be brought up to speed.

At some stage I'd like to see a three-quarter line of 11. ROL, 12. COB, 13. Ringrose/JOB, 14. Daly. I think they're really missing a trick by not playing ROL on the left wing every time Lowe doesn't play and it's someone else at 12. O'Loughlin was tearing it up in his breakout season when he played 11 a lot of the time. We had a thread on here with someone suggesting he was Leinster's most dangerous player. Get Jimmy O'Brien in at outside centre when necessary. He looks technically excellent.

No Leavy. Mick Kearney doubtful. Ruddock being assessed whatever that means.

Looks like Mick K trained today, same with Joe Tomane & Luke McG.

Oisin Dowling back training also.

frawley wearing a bib in Leinster training, would indicate he has possibly been absent with injury recently.

Scott Penny training with Leinster today.

Looks like both Reider and Ross Byrne sat out training. Harry Byrne would be the next cab off the rank.

Patterson was added to the Euro squad before the Wasps match.
Look out Itchy, he's Irish

Right you are. Forgot that. He looks very assured. From the little I've seen of HOS and Patterson I might be more comfortable with the latter coming off the bench in a big game.

JGP might start this one anyway, as the Cheetahs will probably offer a sterner challenge than the Kings did.

Could it be that Ross Byrne will be going to the Irish Squad because Carbery is probably out of the French match

Will be interesting to see who we get for this.

I presume Porter, Adam Byrne and Penny will be available considering they're training.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ross Byrne was kept out due to Joey's injury.

I'd like to see Lowe get another start to get his fitness and sharpness up too.

Be very surprised if we get Penny. The Irish 20's are on a roll and it would be a real pity to risk him when we don't need to.

Reider considered as possibility for No 10 for Friday's game. Ross Byrne on the touchline at training.

Would expect something like:
15. D. Kearney
14. A. Byrne
13. R. O'Loughlin
12. C. O'Brien
11. F. McFadden
10. N. Reid
9. JGP
1. E. Byrne
2. J. Treacy
3. M. Bent
4. S. Fardy
5. R. Molony
6. M. Deegan
7. J. Murphy
8. C. Doris

Bench
B. Byrne, P. Dooley, Vahk, M.Kearney, O. Dowling, H O'S, J. Tomane, B. Daly.

Decent Squad and could still be movement before selection finalised. R. Byrne is a key decision and maybe he will end up in Carton for French & Welsh games. J McGrath might also figure, not least to support him at a time of media speculation. Overall sense is that this is a serious game that Leinster don't want to drop off in intensity given where the season is.

Rather see Daly at 15 than DK.
Want to see Lowe get another run, as he looked very rusty last weekend.
Would like to see Kelleher given another run out & Patterson/HOS.

So something like:

1. Byrne
2. Kelleher
3. Porter
4. Molony
5. Fardy
6. Murphy
7. Deegan
8. Doris
9. HOS
10. Reid
11. Lowe
12. COB
13. ROL
14. Byrne
15. Daly
16. Byrne
17. Dooley
18. Bent
19. Kearney
20. Dowling
21. Patterson
22. McFadden
23. Kearney
