JCT Result: Gonzaga College 34 CBS Naas 13. Fair play to CBS Naas, great to see.

Sound like Michaels have another star 2nd row & 9 coming through the school.

SCT or JCT?

Gilsenan at 9 for the SCT is only one I see in those positions at SCT having a chance. No idea re JCT.

I am predicting the finals to be between:

SCT: St Michael's & Gonzaga (but both semis could go either way)

JCT: St Michael's (Gonzaga will trouble them in the semi) & Blackrock

I was talking about JCT. Gunne(scrumhalf) and Woods(2nd row).

Gilsenan on SCT looks much improved on last season, could make Ireland u18 based on what I saw against Rock.

Yes, agreed. Was always a good athlete, now a very good decision maker. He is a 6th year but at the younger end of the spectrum. He played his minis in the same age grade and with Guinnane, Hickey, Cosgrave & Kelly.

They are strong in all units but especially the back-row.

the u18 age group is ridiculous - Barron, Fish, Guinane, Hickey, Gilsenan, Carroll, O'Kelly, Cosgrave & Kelly.

Is Loosehead Jack Boyle not also in that age grade? He and Barron are in their second year at SCT in he front row with another year to go. He is a very effective scrummager and carrier. Was the standout player with Cosgrave in the 2017 JCT win.

That rings a bell. Pretty impressive then that he was an effective player as in U16 on a semi-final team last year.

His battle with Belvo’s Conor Cagney will be interesting as will Gilsenan v Lysaght. Both teams are strongest at back-row and half-back. My guess is Soroka will be played at 8.

All four 10s in the semis are classy operators. All four teams are worth their place too. It’s been a quality year.

SCT side made semi-finals recently enough, not sure when their JCT side went out that season.

Great to see.
Yes, it is the first time the Gonzaga SCT & JCT have both made the semi-finals. 2017 was the first year their SCT qualified for the semi-finals, losing to Blackrock. The same year, their JCT lost to Rock in the quarter-finals in a game they threw away. 9 of that JCT are in the SCT 23 for tomorrow's semi-final. in 2017 Rock went on to lose in a replayed final to St Michael's after drawing the first final.

Both Gonzaga sides are good enough to get into their respective finals. I think the SCT (vs Clongowes) has a better chance than the JCT (vs St Michael's).

Boyle isn't 17 until May IIRC, so he was 15 playing for Michaels last season.

stop soroka and Michaels will stop Belvo, easier said than done though.

Soroka is the principal talent between those two teams, although I think Baird & Penny were more developed athletes at the same stage for Michael’s last year.
