Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Interesting looking at the players from a caps POV.
Big thing that stands out to me is just how difficult it is to hit 200 caps and how impressive it is the players that have done it. I never fully considered it before.
It is also very encouraging to see the age profile of the players in the second bracket there. That is a very healthy average age for that many senior caps.
I know people (including myself) lament the amount of experience we have lost and will lose in the coming seasons, but that is the new age of Leinster rugby who will bring their own irreplaceable experience to the table

The one that always stands out for me in stats like that is Henshaw. More than halfway through his third season with us and he has 32 caps.

What about players without caps...Harry Byrne, Baird, Hawkshaw, Milne, etc? Aren't they part of the squad?

Strictly speaking, No. They are members of Academy or Sub-Academy until they get capped or a Development Contract.backrower8 wrote:What about players without caps...Harry Byrne, Baird, Hawkshaw, Milne, etc? Aren't they part of the squad?
Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
They are all included in the first post on this thread which mildly updates regularly.backrower8 wrote:What about players without caps...Harry Byrne, Baird, Hawkshaw, Milne, etc? Aren't they part of the squad?
I presume if and when each of those players get capped they will then be added to the capped players list.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
I was not expecting Adam Byrne to be topping the minutes, considering he was playing mainly Celtic Cup for the first couple of months. He must have a serious amount of minutes if you include them.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Poor Max Deegan is getting no minutes, quick send him off to Ulster before he forgets how to play rugby.
Also at 17 first team appearances only one player has had more games, young Andrew Porter, another apparently on Nuciforas hit list.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
I found that list interesting. I haven't seen a similar analysis for the same time last year (or any other year) but it seems to me that, allowing for being unavailable for injury, our international players have been played more in the first half of the season than I would have expected across the positions - Healy, Furlong, Porter, Cronin, Ryan, take your pick of he BR, both SH. If you allow for injury the likes of McGrath, Sexton and Toner would probably have been up there as well.
I felt like Sexton and a few others were being played earlier in the season than usual - and for games you would normally not expect to see them in. I wonder if it is a WC conditioning thing - playing a lot early in the season, target the games towards the end and then go into Summer with an aim to peak again. Might explain the slight lack of sharpness for the 6N.
If it is the case, handy that Leinster have the home SF already - I wonder will we see a lot of younger faces getting gametime

I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role.
I've got nothing against your right leg.
The trouble is ... neither have you

Nucifora's is using his "Show and Go" policy for Deegan.Jonny tight lips wrote:Poor Max Deegan is getting no minutes, quick send him off to Ulster before he forgets how to play rugby.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Ross Byrne in Ireland squad for France, no Cronin, Henshaw or Leavy.
Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Interesting that our 3 non European players are near the top of the minutes even though only 2 can be in a match day squad.

That's as it should be given the number of players Leinster supply to the national squad.ronk wrote:Interesting that our 3 non European players are near the top of the minutes even though only 2 can be in a match day squad.
Good player management.

Good player management.
It shows that we're able to get value out of all of them.
I do worry though that the front line internationals are leading the minutes (or aren't far off) in a few positions. Means that overall they are playing a lot more contact.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
McFadden quote on future.Out of contract at the end of the season, McFadden — who is in his 12th season with his home province — says he has not made a decision on his future, given his primary focus at the minute is playing rugby again after a couple of frustrating lay-offs.
“I’m born and bred in Leinster, I was born here, grew up here and supported the team from a young age,” he adds. “It would be great to play here until the end of my career but that hasn’t been fully decided yet. This is the last year of my contract so I’ll see what happens over the next few weeks.”

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
With Kelleher coming in and us being able to play Lowe without restrictions there is a lot of back 3 players with not enough game time to keep everyone happy.
I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if at least 1 back 3 player isn't gone by the end of the season

Tom Daly has signed a permanent deal with Connacht.
Look out Itchy, he's Irish

Delighted for Daly, hope he gets a free run of injuries.
