Edinburgh Away, 22/03, 7.35pm
8 days before semi-final game at home to Ulster, assuming no irish players will be selected/available, what team do they select?
Re: Edinburgh Away, 22/03, 7.35pm
Barring injury, would imagine the following players will be available
LHP: Byrne, Dooley, McGrath*
THP: Bent, Abdaladze, Porter*
Hooker: Tracy, Byrne, Cronin*
2nd Row: Fardy, Molony, Kearney
Back Row: Ruddock, Leavy*, Murphy, Deegan, Doris
SH: McGrath, Gibson-Park, HOS
FH: Byrne, Frawley
Centre: O'Brien, Reid, O'Loughlin, Tomane
Back 3: Daly, Lowe, Byrne, D Kearney, McFadden
* depends on whether they're involved with Ireland this weekend
LHP: Byrne, Dooley, McGrath*

They all need game time before the Ulster game and to the end of the season.

Unfortunately it’s a week too soon for Leavy.cormac wrote:Barring injury, would imagine the following players will be available

Also if McGrath is gonna leave at the end of the year I don’t see any reason to play him again in the Pro14 this year. We already have the home semi and it’s a good opertunity to give Dooley and Byrne the minutes.

McGrath is multicapped international and a first choice Lions test prop.

True but we don’t need to win these games so they’re free shots, why not look longtermOldschool wrote:A bird in the hand is worth two in the nush.Jonny tight lips wrote:Unfortunately it’s a week too soon for Leavy.cormac wrote:Barring injury, would imagine the following players will be available

Because you want your match-day 23 primed and ready for action together a week later. Any who are not carrying a knock or in rehab should be included to assist re-conditioning into Leinster mode. Because of the difference in player skill sets, it does take a session or two after 9 weeks separation.

Ed Byrne did alright against Toulouse and was in the team on merit. Reality is if he’s off it’s not as if we’re gonna get somebody back the other way so we’re gonna be relying on these guys next year.
At the start of the the year Jack McGrath was light years ahead of Ed but as the season has gone on that has narrowed, in relatively close calls for bench spots I think we can lean towards the players who will be around next year. Same goes for the likes of McCarthy and O’Sullivan.

Has McGrath leaving been confirmed anywhere or is it still just rumoured? If there's a guy considering leaving, freezing him out completely will give him a good pushJonny tight lips wrote:Ed Byrne did alright against Toulouse and was in the team on merit. I want to see Jack bench for Ireland in Cardiff and stick it to the Welsh in the last 20 rather than give them turnovers and penalties courtesy of Killer's inept scrummaging.Oldschool wrote:Basically pick Jack against Edinburgh, see how he goes and take it from there....

+1 however that is dependent on Jack being with the Irish squad.backrower8 wrote:I want to see Jack bench for Ireland in Cardiff and stick it to the Welsh in the last 20 rather than give them turnovers and penalties courtesy of Killer's inept scrummaging.Oldschool wrote:Basically pick Jack against Edinburgh, see how he goes and take it from there....
