Dardis was a fullback at 15's.

Don't know about the Olympics but it gets them back to Hong Kong to try and qualify for the main sevens circuit.

Came through against Russia to Q/F in Hong Kong this morning by 33-7 and now face them again in quarter-final. Looks like winner wil play best of Germany or Uruguay. Chile, Tonga and Philipines in other half. Conroy scored a pin-up try with blinding pace and was clocked as topping 36 kph!

Thanks for that, great interview.

I think anyone who saw him when he was younger would have said the same thing but that's so frustrating that it was actually a conscious decision not to back himself with ball in hand. He had amazingly quick feet, great hands, and a brilliant boot (don't quite agree with him about his kicking game, he was a lovely spiral kicker) and always reminded me of Willie Le Roux but just let too many games pass him by.

That said I thought defence was his biggest issue. Had that not been the case then he'd have been seen as being a more reliable option and could have developed everything else on the back of it.

Like him or not, that's another defined target of the Nucifora era achieved the hard way:

1. Grand Slam
2. 3 6N Championships in 5 year
3. 6N U.20 Grand Slam
4. 7's World Series Qualification secured
5. Reduced average age of Senior Irish first caps
6. Mobility of Irish players across Provinces

Only two defined targets I recall which have not been acheived to dat:
1. Irish Womens 7's to Olympics;,
2. 2nd Irish Province to make European Final

It'll be interesting to see what happens now. Will it become more specialised and of less use as a development tool for academy players?

The interview with Dardis is very honest.
Maybe even a little too self critical or self doubting.
Potential echoes for Larmour.
Larmour sometimes needs to go for it instead of dancing into contact.
His thing is his footwork but at times it's also necessary to put the head down, break the gain line and give his forwards a target.
Dardis possibly didn't look for enough advice from others.
