Gavin Mullen seems to have really hit his straps over the recent weeks. I saw him play the first fixture of the competition and he had an absolute shocker in defense. I thought his season was going to be over before it started, but he seems to have really bucked up; from the accounts I have read, he looks like he is playing to his potential. I was a huge fan of his dad [my first ever rugby hero] so I am happy to see him do well.

Dan Sheehan is a player who I'm pretty excited about. Super size, a guy who has played hooker for a long time and buckets of athleticism. I've long wanted Leinster to find a big hooker somewhere in the ranks, since about 2004. We beat South Africa in November that year, and I was really struck by the size of John Smit. I'd never seen him play live before, and on TV he didn't look big beside Os du Randt [nobody does]. But in person he was a huge, huge dude, and he was so effective at the size.

I really like the idea of having a one-two punch combination at hooker, the way we had in the past at scrum-half with Reddan and Boss. I think between Kelleher and Sheehan we have two really strong prospects just starting out on their pro careers. It's a great position to be in.

interested to see how Dan's brother Bobby gets on this season, would rate him ahead of John McKee long term but obviously McKee seems to be ahead of him at the moment.

For us not to top the standings. We would need to lose and Ulster would need to win by a combined total of 136 points.

I.e. Even if we lost 100 nil to Connacht then Ulster would still need to beat Munster by a clear 36 points to pass us.

Or maybe Rowan Osborne. I'd be surprised but he did seem ahead of Patterson for the last few weeks
He's gotten awfully fond of that brick

26-7 after 30 minutes. Tommy O'Brien with the bonus point try. That means we finish top of the table regardless.

A question for those in the know. We seem to be quite a bit stronger then anyone else this year. Any ideas why?

Is this an exceptionally talented group that are coming through?
