The ground is a bit out. It's easier to get the metro / underground out to it

Most of the good bars and restaurants are in Vieux Lyon. Last time Supporters HQ was in a Scottish bar "the Wallace" owned and run by Irish guys on the river which could accommodate a big crowd but I'd say best bars for fans to congregate this time are Johnny's Kitchen and Johnny Walsh's on Rue St Georges as there won't be that many travelling to this match . They are side by side in the old town 200m south of the Vieux Lyon metro station. The only downside is they are at the southern end of the old town and they are the end of the strip. Anywhere in old town is nice - you'll find plenty of good spots.
If you have not been in Lyon before it is worth taking the funicular tram up to the top of Vieux Lyon on Saturday morning seeing the Cathedral and the old roman ruins including the amphitheatre.
1st arrondissement - Area between Rhone and Saone rivers
Lots of bars near Place Bellecour - main square. Then if you walk up pedestrianised retail street to Place de Jacobins you will see Rue Merciere which is full of restaurants.
If you continue North you see the Hotel de Ville, Place de Terreaux and Opera House. A lot of bars restaurants around Terreaux but a notch down on Vieux Lyon
Stade Matmut
Best way to get to Stade Gerland Matmut is to take the Metro line B to Gerland in the direction of Oullins. If you are out in the old town in the morning you take metro line D from Vieux Lyon or Place Bellecour to Saxe Gambetta and change to Line B. Alternately it is 40min walk from Pace Bellecour
Travel from Airport
Tram is €16 per person one way to Part Dieu - modern office district and main train station.
Buses have restarted recently but I do not know the fare but was about €7.00 before the tram opened
Taxi is normally about €50 to €60 though taxi fares go up a lot at night and at weekends.
